What is Autism?
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental condition that affects how individuals communicate, interact, learn, and experience the world around them. It exists on a spectrum, meaning that each person with autism has their own unique combination of strengths, challenges, and ways of thinking.
Early diagnosis and appropriate support can make a significant difference, empowering individuals with autism to build skills, pursue their goals, and lead fulfilling lives. But support shouldn’t end in childhood. Many autistic individuals face new obstacles as they enter adulthood, from navigating higher education and employment to building independent lives.
That’s why the Reeds Fund initiatives focus on creating opportunities for adults on the spectrum, offering career development programs, entrepreneurship support, mentorship, and community resources designed to help them thrive. Above all, understanding, acceptance, and inclusion are essential to creating a world where people on the spectrum can flourish as their authentic selves throughout every stage of life.
